Virtual Mirror Prototype

Last Sunday, we presented our virtual mirror at Flanders Technology & Innovation as part of a larger research project. Thanks to this mirror, people can very easily try on different clothes without the hassle of dressing rooms.

Scalability and compatibility

Because the installation only needs one product picture of a clothing item it can be easily integrated with any existing clothing store (or just any piece of clothing you have a photo from). With the use of AI, the mirror will detect a piece of clothing in most product pictures, no 3D models needed. Because the photo is taken from 1 angle, the back of the t-shirt is dynamically filled.

Work in progress

Since this is only the first version of our prototype, we still see many areas where we can improve the product. Wouldn't it be nice if you could also try on shoes? Or that you can instantly share your outfit with friends for feedback, or that it automatically gives style advice. The visitors at FTI Kortijk were already enthusiastic, and they say there is a lot of potential.
